Join the welcoming party at Wickham Park from 10am this Sunday and be the first to greet the thousands of bikes bearing gifts for kids in need.
“Newcastle City Council is proud to support this heart-warming event and we encourage everyone to get along to the new end destination of Wickham Park this weekend for what is going to be a truly spectacular Christmas Fundraising Event,” said Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes.
The Toy Run is an extraordinary festive season favourite designed for the whole community to enjoy. From 10am to 3pm this Sunday 3rd December, Wickham Park will come alive with Christmas cheer. Santa will roar in on his motorised sleigh and the best-decorated bikes of the day will be on display for viewing and public voting.
A massive donation point will be designated for new and unwrapped toys, with Salvation Army mascot “Shieldy” roving the park and greeting guests. The toys will be donated to the Salvos’ Christmas Appeal, bringing joy into the lives of countless underprivileged families.
Live music will keep the crowds entertained all day, with the Wickham Park Hotel coming on board to present acts such as Morgana Osaki, The Venom Lips and Nick Raschke joining Voodoo Express as their special guest.
A giant tug'o'war will pit teams against each other in a test of strength and tenacity, while a bucking bull amusement, showbags, face-painting, fairy floss and jumping castle will provide hours of activities for kids.
Classic and vintage bikes will be on display, along with a selection of McCarroll's Automotive Group’s most striking, dynamic and assertive cars on show. There will also be pop up stalls from the likes of Brisans, Shannons, Sol Invictus and Newcastle International SuperMoto to keep the adrenaline enthusiasts happy.
Plentiful food options will be available for the hungry masses, with everything from breakfast goods, coffee and sweet treats to gourmet BBQs. Newy Burger Co, Night Hawk Diner and The Banger Bros will pull up for lunch and you’ll also find pulled pork sliders, wood fired pizza, dumplings and more. Try a delicious Bavarian style original and spicy Bratwurst from Fritz’s Wieners served on a freshly baked baguette with caramelised onion, sauerkraut and a selection of sauces and mustard, or stop by Bačka for a free tasting of wood smoked, air cured small goods using Australian beef and pork.
For vintage inspired clothing with a focus on 40's and 50's styles for women, pay a visit to Miskonduct Klothing. Their products include high quality imported and domestic labels along with shoes, handbags, jewellery and hair accessories.
A live auction will send a signed Newcastle Knights jersey off to a new home and one lucky person will also be riding away with the ultimate gift when a matte black Nemesis Scrambler valued at over $7,000 is drawn from the official Toy Run raffle. Tickets are just $5 and can be purchased on the Newcastle Toy Run website or before 1pm on the day of the event.
No Christmas celebration would be complete without Santa, who will be there with his sleigh set up for photos.
