The Newcastle Bikers for Kids Toy Run is the oldest annual event of its kind in Australia and the only Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) and police approved and escorted ride. The event commenced in 1978 with around 20 bikes. The event now in it’s 36th year, sees over 3500 riders of all ages take part, growing more and more in popularity each year.
The Bikers for Kids Toy Run is totally focused on providing toys and support for Hunter kids and families. The Toy Run on average now benefits The Salvation Army to the tune of some $35,000 worth of Toys and $45,000 in cash donations, badge sales, site fees and catering, reaching some 1000 families in the immediate Newcastle / Lake Macquarie and Hunter Valley area.
A Family Fun Day was created in co-ordination of the event for the first time last year in which over 18,000 attendees rolled up.
